After being helicoptered to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, the Gomma Racing rider was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra. His presence at Vallelunga is in question.

SBK: Mora undergoing surgery for fractured vertebra

It's a bitter Sunday in Misano for Giacomo Mora. After getting close to the top ten on Saturday in Race 1, the Gomma Racing rider took a nasty fall during Sunday morning's warm-up, after coming into contact with Stirpe's Ducati, which hit Mora in the upper body.

He was immediately transported to the medical center. He was conscious, but the medical team found several injuries. The Gomma Racing Team rider was then helicoptered to the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, in order to undergo more in-depth check-ups. The CT scan carried out at the hospital showed a fractured vertebra, so the doctors decided that Giacomo must undergo surgery. The recovery time still remains to be determined.

Regarding the incident, team manager Alessio Corradi wanted to clarify: "Unfortunately, Giacomo was the victim of a fall triggered by another rider, whose bike hit Mora in the upper left side of the body. After initial examinations at the medical center, Giacomo was helicoptered to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena for further, more in-depth evaluations. The CT scan showed a broken vertebra and, as a result, he will need surgery. I hope that Giacomo Mora will return soon and stronger than before. We wish our rider a speedy recovery. A heartfelt thank you also goes to the circuit doctors and the team at the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena."
