MotoGP, Martin: "A strange and frustrating fall because I wasn't pushing"

"I didn't expect to slip at that point, but I'm not discouraged. I'm leaving Jerez with twelve points and the knowledge that I did well in every condition. But there are still areas to improve."

MotoGP: Martin:

The MotoGP can be ruthless, and Jorge Martin learned that today,l at his own expense, falling in the early stages of the GP after his success on Saturday and the stretch in the overall riders standings.

"It was definitely a strange fall, since I was going at the same speed as the previous laps, and I braked in the same spots. We'll have to figure that out. At that moment, I was atn 137"9/1'38". I was consistent. I think it was a good pace for that moment of the race, where I was managing the lead and trying to safeguard the rear tire for the finish. I was focused and confident and didn't expect to slip at that point, since I had just entered a corner and still straight up. Maybe I risked a bit too much in some turns, but not at six. Was it a tire pressure issue? No, I don't think so. We started with a higher value than yesterday. We'll try to understand more in the evening," his stated.

"The frustrating thing is that I wasn't pushing that hard," the Ducati Pramac rider continued. "That said, Bagnaia was flying today, and I certainly wouldn't have had his 1'37"4. At most, I would've stopped on 137"6. Does the reason for the fall make me anxious? I'm sure we'll figure it out, so I'm calm. We've improved a lot compared to twelve months ago, so that's something positive. I've been competitive when it's dry, as well as when it's wet. There are still a lot of rounds ahead of us. After all, I'm leaving here with twelve points, so not bad. There are areas to consolidate, but I'm optimistic."
