SBK, Sykes: “I didn't take risks today”

Rea: “We worked to prepare for the race and the second part of the season”

Sykes: “I didn't take risks today”

The two Kawasaki men seem to have the situation totally under control at Misano today and, aware of their potential, also considering their positions in the championship, Johnny Rea first, Tom Sykes second, the two Kawasaki champions focused on what they've been trying to obtain from the start, race wins.

Apart from a small crash in the afternoon session, Sykes appeared totally relaxed: “We've found a good setting for the bike and, aside from the small crash, I'm pleased with the work and know that we'll be good tomorrow, I'm relaxed and didn't take any risks today”.

It is precisely this calmness and awareness that have led Tom to win several of the last races…”We've clearly found the right path in terms of solving the problems that we were having with the bike, I'm really pleased, particularly about our pace, thanks also to the tests that we carried out in June. The bike is very consistent over race distance and we can still improve further”.

On the opposite side of the garage, Johnny Rea was also quite pleased with his day: “We've found a good balance with the bike, and I think that my aim is always the same, to win both races, something that we've continued to work towards today”.

Clear ideas, even though your rivals won't agree?

Realistically, in some of the past races, I couldn't win and, considering my advantage in the championship, it didn't make sense for me to take risks, particularly on the final lap. But here I would like to win again, to extend my lead and perhaps make the final rounds calmer; we're always aiming for the highest step of the podium”.
