Austin is the stronghold of Marc Marquez and, just to make a change, #93 proved so once again two weeks ago, dominating the stars and stripes round on board his Honda. Thanks to the win at COTA, the Spaniard now has 36 victories in the reigning class, one less than Mike Hailwood.
Back to Marquez, and in Texas the Honda rider scored his sixth consecutive win at the Grand Prix of the Americas. A number shared by Casey Stoner who, between 2007 and 2012, dominated at the Australian GP, as well as by Mick Doohan, the winner at Mugello from 1993 to 1998. There is someone who's gone one better than Mick though: Valentino Rossi, who won the Italian round on seven consecutive occasions, between 2002 and 2008.
