MotoGP: Pecco Bagnaia: “I missed an opportunity on Sunday, but I’ll have another”

The Red Bull Ring didn’t do well for the factory Ducati team last Sunday. The Styrian GP was supposed to be a good opportunity to recup points on Quartararo. Instead, the French rider went higher in the rankings. After the restart, Bagnaia had to deal with a rear tire that didn’t work and, after getting a 3-second penalty for having gone off the track too many times, he ended up 11th. Miller, on the other hand, fell when he was in pursuit of the French rider.

The only consolation is that they’ll be racing again on the Austrian circuit, and Jorge Martin demonstrated that the Desmosedici is a winner.

We had a really important opportunity last week, and I hope we have another one this Sunday,” Pecco said, crossing his fingers, at 58 points away from Quartararo.

In the first start, I had a really good feeling with the bike, and I felt I could fight for the victory. But, after the red flag, I didn’t get the same sensations in Race 2,” he recalled. “We now have an excellent foundation from which to set up this weekend’s work and, surely, last Sunday’s experience will come in handy. The weather will, once again, be the real variable, but we’ll try to get ready to face the race in any condition. I’m very determined to finish the Austrian GP well.

Even Jack (now at -72) has a lot to blame for the mistake in the race.

We’ll be racing again this weekend at the Red Bull Ring, and it’ll be an opportunity for me  to be able to redeem myself after last Sunday’s crash,” the Australian rider expressed his goal. “The podium was really within my reach. The team had done a great job, and I felt really comfortable with the bike and, when I fell, I didn’t feel like I had asked too much from the front, even though I probably had. These past few days, the team has had the opportunity to analyze the data to understand what happened, and we’ll have important references to better prepare for the Austrian GP. My goal is to bring home a good result this weekend.
