MotoGP, OFFICIAL - Fabio Quartararo with Yamaha for 2 more years

Fabio Quartararo will be racing with Yamaha for two more years, until 2024. There had been rumors about his renewal the past few weeks, and the Japanese constructor chose the Barcelona GP to make the official announcement. Fabio will continue racing with Yamaha, alongside Franco Morbidelli.

“I’m really happy to announce to all of you that I’ll be staying with Yamaha for two more years,” Quartararo said. “In the past, moving to the MotoGP with Yamaha and then to the official team, wasn’t easy. Yamaha believed in me from the beginning, and that's something I don't take lightly. That said, this new agreement was an important decision. I'm at an important point in my career, so I took a little more time to reach this decision.”

"I believe in the Yamaha MotoGP project, and I feel that Yamaha is really motivated,” he continued. “And now that we have officially confirmed our decision to continue this journey together, we can fully focus on the current season. I want to say thank you to the people around me, who always help and support me, as well as the fans. I really appreciate all the support.”

Lin Jarvis added: “We’re very happy to have reached an agreement with Fabio to continue to be part of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team for 2023 and beyond. We brought Fabio into the official team last year knowing he had a special talent, but he even exceeded our expectations. It's not often you meet a rider of his caliber. He had already demonstrated his talent and speed in the two years he spent with the SRT satellite team in 2019 and 2020 but, when he switched to the official team, we were able to see his growth and maturity as a rider." 

"In the first season and a half with Fabio, we achieved many successes. Six wins, fourteen podiums, six pole positions, and the 2021 MotoGP world title. These results were achieved thanks to strong teamwork by the rider, the team, our engineers, and all the staff of the team who worked together with a positive spirit. With Fabio, we know that he’ll  always put in one hundred percent of his effort, and we have assured him that Yamaha will do the same, and we’ll invest in future developments so that together we can compete together for the MotoGP world championship titles for years to come,” the Managing Director concluded.
