Lin Jarvis couldn't be happier to be able to count on Quartararo until 2026. Yamaha is in the midst of a revolution, and losing the rider that won the last title would've been a problem. The managing director spoke about this with motogp.com.
"We're very happy to have been able to announce the renewal," he said. "It was important to sign with the rider who has been our cornerstone in recent years. It's a very positive thing to know we can still count on him, both in terms of performance, but also in terms of the confidence he gives everyone, because he knows our plans and where we want to go."
The French rider spoke yesterday of "secret plans".
Jarvis didn't mince words: "Our plan is to win again. We know what our gap is and that we have to change our approach. That requires new people and investments. We explained this to Fabio, who has already witnessed some changes in recent times. I can't say anything more, but his decision is a sign that he's confident that he can become competitive again."
Many thought that Quartararo had lost his patience and would take a different path.
"He's still very young and has made this decision by investing in his future," the manager explained. "He's at ease with us. He likes being at Yamaha, and he knows that, if we work together, we can achieve more success. I hope he renews again when this contract expires."
On the arrival of a satellite team, however, the situation is still unclear.
"Clearly, our intention is to have four bikes as soon as possible, in order to have more data for development. Having only two is a disadvantage. We're working on it. There are talks. I can say that we're optimistic to have satellite teams as soon as possible. Is there a dead line? Not really. But I think we'll say something at Mugello, at the latest," he concluded.
