Moto2: Ramirez is unfit: Escrig, in Assen as spectator, replaces him

Sometimes fate leads to scenarios that seem impossible to imagine. That’s what happened today, in Assen, in the Forward team’s garage. Marcos Ramirez fell at Turn 15, right at the end of the first practice session. The Spanish rider was immediately taken to the medical center, due to severe pain in his right elbow. An X-ray detected  a small elbow fracture, and additional tests revealed a severe contusion to his forearm muscle.

Ramirez was declared unfit and will now return home for extensive check-ups.

Given the emergency, Alex Escrig (who was in Holland supporting his team) will move up his return to the track and will be replacing Ramirez starting as early as the FP2 this afternoon. In the end, Alex will now be racing alongside … his replacement, Yeray Ruiz.
