Moto2, Sito Pons and his team leave the World Championship

The World Championship loses one of its historical teams and holder of the most titles: Sito Pons. The news came from Spain from the newspaper, Marca, which wrote that the former 250 World Champion sold his Moto2 spots to the MT MSI team, which is already present in the Moto3.

After his racing career, Pons became manager in 1992, taking Alex Criville to the 500 on a Honda (already conquering the first victory in his debut season). In the years that followed, his team raced in the 125, 250, 500, and MotoGP, with riders such as Loris Capirossi, John Kocinski, Carlos Checa, Alex Barros, Alberto Puig, and Fabio Quartararo. In 2005, he left the World Championship to return to the Moto2 in 2009. A class in which he won the title in 2013 with Pol Espargarò. In the MotoGP, his team was one of the private teams, achieving a 2nd place among the teams in 2003, with Biaggi and Ukawa as riders.

The Sito team is also present in the MotoE, in the electric class, where it won the World Championship in 2021 with Jordi Torres, while it’s now 2nd in the rankings thanks to Mattia Casedei.
