MotoGP: Bastianini will require surgery for both his ankle and hand

A first official statement arrived from Ducati on Enea Bastianini’s condition after he fell at the first corner of the Barcelona race, involving other riders in the accident.

Bastianini suffered a non-displaced fracture of the medial malleolus of his left ankle and a sub-capital fracture of the second metacarpal of his left hand. Both his hand an ankle have a castl, and he will be allowed to return to Italy this evening. Bastianini will have to undergo surgery on his ankle and, to speed up his recovery, he will also have surgery on his hand in the days that follow.

The surgeries will performed out in Italy. It’s practically impossible to think that he’ll be participating in the Misano Grand Prix scheduled for next weekend.
