SBK: Suzuki Yoshimura SERT wins 24 Hours of Le Mans ahead of BMW and Yamaha

Yoshimura SERT won the opening round of the 2024 FIM World Endurance Championship, the 47th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Suzuki team managed to make a comeback after a crash in the early stages and then took the lead when YART Yamaha rider Karel Hanika crashed before the stroke of the 16th hour.

The crew consisting of Black, Masson and Linfoot edged out the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team of Mykhalchyk, Guintoli and Reitenberger who finished second. The YART team, in which Niccolò Canepa rides, managed to grab the 3rd step of the podium after an 18-minute pit stop to get its crashed R1 back on track.

National Motos Honda won in the Superstock class, followed by Chromeburner-RAC41-Honda and 3ART Best of Bike, a team in which Doriano Vietti Ramus, the brother of Celestino, rides.

Suzuki Yoshimura SERT team rider Gregg Black said,"It's amazing to be back on the top step of the podium, just amazing. Dan Linfoot, Étienne Masson and the whole team did a great job all winter, we showed our speed and took revenge from last year. It is simply fantastic."
