SBK, Haslam with Kawasaki at the Suzuka 8 Hours

Leon, already winner of two editions, will repeat the experience with Team Green after a nice second place finish in 2016

SBK: Haslam with Kawasaki at the Suzuka 8 Hours

Leon Haslam, already winner of the 2013 and 2014 editions of the Suzuka 8 Hours astride a Honda CBR1000 and author of an excellent second place finish last year with the Team Green Kawasaki ZX10R (on a team with Yanagawa and Watanabe) will once again be on the grid for the classic Japanese race, scheduled for Friday 28 July through Sunday 30 July, this year celebrating the 40th edition of its prestigious history.

This year, the British rider will have a rather full schedule. In addition to the difficult and competitive BSB championship that will start next weekend, “Pocket Rocket” will need to prepare for the rough Japanese tour where he will compete with two other riders who are still to be determined: “I am very happy to announce my participation in the Suzuka 8 Hours this year - Leon said - Like last year, I will be racing with the Team Green Kawasaki, the team with which I finished on the second step of the podium in 2016. I am pumped up and ready to race with my sights set on the podium once again, maybe a step higher this time.”

Haslam can count on official support from Kawasaki, who support team JG Speedfit and, like last year, the Briton will attempt an assault on the national Superbike title that got away from him in 2016, going to Shane Byrne with his Ducati Panigale.

After all, Leon is a likely candidate, ready to sub for the factory Kawasaki riders in SBK should the need arise, as happened during the winter tests at Portimão, where the rider from Derbyshire rode an injured Randy Krummenacher’s bike.
