Marc Marquez’s first race after returning to the races didn’t go as expected. Touching Quartararo shortly after the start in Aragon also ruined the Spanish riders GP, since he ended up with a piece of Fabio's fairing blocking his rear wheel when he activated the lowering device.
The goal was to cover kilometers and verify his physical condition on a long distance, but Marc will have to wait for Motegi to get the answers he was looking for. At least Marc hasn’t gotten tired of seeing a glass half full at all costs. He’ll be going to Japan and is sure that he’ll be able to finish the weekend.
“I’m really excited to go back to Japan. It’s Honda’s home race. It’s a fun circuit, and the fans are always amazing,” Marc commented. “You can find all kinds of weather in Motegi, so we’ll have to pay attention to what happens. Also, with the change in program, the two and a half days will be very intense, but I feel good physically after Aragon. Let’s enjoy the weekend back in Japan, and we’ll continue to work for a complete recovery and for the development of the bike.”
Pol Espargarò wasn’t very satisfied with Spanish Grand Prix, who chalked up just one point.
“We had a difficult weekend in Aragon, but going to Honda, seeing the factory, and meeting with the Japanese fans certainly gives us an extra boost,” he said. “The atmosphere you experience in Japan is always incredible, so I want to continue working hard to offer a good show to all those who support us. It’s also a special track for me, because I won the Moto2 World Championship in 2013. We’ll try to create more good memories on this track this year.”
