MotoGP, Suzuki considers 4 bikes in 2017

The decision to double the GSX-RRs on track to be made within a month, teams already interested

Suzuki considers 4 bikes in 2017

Suzuki has been at the centre of the market for months thanks to Maverick Vinales, but a change of rider might not be the only novelty in Hamamatsu for 2017. This time we're talking about bikes and next year the number of GSX-RR bikes present on the grid could double

In Japan they are considering the possibility of giving their MotoGP bikes to a satellite team and Carmelo Ezpeleta, the Dorna boss, has also made it known that he'd be happy for the project to go ahead.

Suzuki has only had the factory team onthe grid for a while, but is ready for a change. Also because certain team manager have come knocking to ask for a GSX-RR.

Increasing the commitment would please the Japanese, who are carefully evaluating the practical consequences, from the logistics to the commitment of supplying bikes and spares. The decision will be made shortly, and within a month we will probably know if we'll be seeing 3, or even 4, Suzukis next year.

For the moment, there are no negotiations in progress with teams, even if paddock rumours cite Cecchinello as a possible candidate.

Oddly, Dorna recently released a communication in which it blamed Manufacturers' unwillingness as the reason for which the 24th place in MotoGP would not be filled. Lies will get you nowhere…
